City Palace

Perched above Lake Pichola, City Palace is a sprawling complex built over nearly 400 years by successive Mewar rulers, blending courtyards, balconies, towers and cupolas into one continuous facade. Inside, the Peacock Courtyard and the mirrored Sheesh Mahal are highlights, and the upper terraces give one of the best views in the city over the lake and the surrounding hills. Most first-time visitors spend two to three hours here; we build in extra time at sunset, when the sandstone glows gold.

Lake Pichola

Udaipur's oldest and largest lake, Pichola is where the city's "City of Lakes" nickname comes from. A boat ride here at golden hour, past Jag Mandir and Jag Niwas (the Lake Palace), is the single most requested experience among our guests. We drop and pick up right at Ambrai Ghat or the City Palace jetty, and can time the ride around sunset so the light on the palaces is at its best.

Sajjangarh Fort (Monsoon Palace)

Sajjangarh sits on a hilltop above the Aravalli forest, originally built as an astronomical monitoring post and monsoon retreat for the royal family. The drive up is steep and winding, best done in a comfortable, well-maintained car — exactly what our sunset trips are built for. From the top, the view stretches across both Fateh Sagar and Pichola lakes, and the palace itself is lit warmly after dark.

Kumbhalgarh Fort

About two hours from Udaipur, Kumbhalgarh is famous for its perimeter wall — one of the longest continuous walls in the world after the Great Wall of China — and for being the birthplace of Maharana Pratap. The fort complex includes over 360 temples inside its walls. It pairs naturally with Ranakpur on a full-day outstation trip, and our drivers know the quieter viewpoints along the wall away from the main entrance crowds.

Chittorgarh Fort

One of the largest forts in India and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Chittorgarh is steeped in Mewar history — the Vijay Stambh (Victory Tower) and Rani Padmini's palace are the two most visited points inside the complex. It's roughly a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Udaipur, comfortably done as a day trip with an early start, and our outstation packages include waiting time so you're not rushed through the fort.

Mount Abu

Rajasthan's only hill station, Mount Abu is a popular overnight or weekend trip from Udaipur — around three hours by road, with the Dilwara Jain temples, Nakki Lake and Guru Shikhar viewpoint as the main draws. The ghat road up has plenty of hairpin bends, so we run this route with experienced hill-road drivers and well-serviced cars.

Jawai

Jawai's granite hills and the Jawai Dam backwaters have made it known as one of India's best spots for leopard sightings outside a national park, alongside Rabari shepherd villages and migratory bird flocks at the lake. It's about two and a half hours from Udaipur — a favourite for travellers extending their trip by a day for a safari and a night at one of the area's camps.

Nathdwara

Home to the Shrinathji Temple, one of the most visited Vaishnav shrines in India, Nathdwara draws pilgrims and travellers alike — the town's darshan timings and bazaar lanes selling pichwai paintings are worth building time around. It's under an hour and a half from Udaipur, making it an easy half-day trip on its own or a stop en route to Kumbhalgarh.
